The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often referred to as the LDS) has made the International Genealogical Index (the "IGI") available on the internet at familysearch.org. England LDS Batch# to c.1659
The "IGI Batch Number Index" will help you find the sources for the information listed about individuals in the "International Genealogical Index" (IGI)
How to Use the "IGI Batch Number Index"Follow these four steps to find the source. You will need the batch number end perhaps the serial/sheet number from the IGI entry to begin
1. Find the batch number in the "IGI Batch Number Index."
Batch numbers are listed first in alphabetical order, then in numerical order. Numbers beginning with a letter are listed before all-digit numbers. The first and last batch number is listed at the top of each microfiche
The index is arranged in three columns: (1) the IGI batch number, (2) the input source number, and (3) the printout number. Each page has two sets of these three columns. Example:

2. Write down the input-source numberThe input-source number is the library call number for a microfilm, microfiche, or book. Sometimes an abbreviation appears in this column
Microfilm call numbers are all-digit numbers (such as 835247). An item number listed with it (835247, item 3), tells you which item to look for on the roll of film. If more than one film number is listed, see the explanation (below) for that type of batch number
You may find a record group number (RG4 2416) listed with the film number. The RG number, found on some British films, can help you find the source on the microfilm. The number is stamped on the side of the page (record groups are not on the microfilm in any specified order).
Microfiche call numbers have seven digits and begin with the number 6 (6033251). A second, two-digit number following the call number (6033251 09) indicates how many microfiche in the setBook call numbers have both numbers and letters. A period sometimes also appears between some of the numbers (975.633/C1 U261)
If the number is 6035516 you will need to search the "Register of Births, Marriages, and Deaths of Scotland" to got the library call number. Look for the name of the parish at the front of the register, on the microfiche then find the county and parish number in the register pages that follow. The film numbers are listed next to the yeare of birth. You can also find these film numbers in the Family History Library Catalog. the microfiche 6035516 gives the information necessary to determine the film number
