Information regarding the BOLLINA; arr. P.E.I. 7th June 1831 forwarded by Arthur Dark. "One of the passengers was a Henry Elliott from Bucks Mills in North Devon who became a successful miller and J.P. in Canada. I have a copy of his obituary (cutting from an unknown newspaper) which gives the date of his sailing as the 4th May 1831 and his arrival at Bideford P.E.I. on the 5th June. The important words are: "After a stop there [P.E.I.] of ten days the tidy little craft which had brought 61 passengers safely from the old land, left for Québec reaching the ancient capital ten or twelve days later. Mr. Elliott and about 30 other passengers came by bateaux to Kingston, thence by steamer to Port Hope. Some of the passengers who came out on the Bolina (sic) with the deceased were the late Joseph Adams and Robert Ashton and their families who settled in Columbus, Thomas Courtice, late of Pickering, an uncle of ex-Reeve L.M. Courtice, Richard Foley, late of Darlington and Mrs.Wm. Puley of Bowmanville, at that time a little girl." " An article by his grandson Dr. Jabez H. Elliott in The Canadian Statesman, January 1937 confirms his sailing on the 4th May 1831 and his reaching Bideford P.E.I. on June 5th 1831 as well as the rest of his journey."
